Foundation of Georgian Arts and Culture opened an exhibition
On June 18, 2004, the Foundation of Georgian Arts and Culture opened an exhibition summarizing the cultural heritage preservation projects they have implemented during the last four years. These projects included the 2002-2003 “Diagnostic Studies & Determination of Conservation Needs of the Church of the Virgin in Gelati, Narthex and Chapels," which was funded by U.S. Embassy Tbilisi through the Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation. Other projects were funded by various American Foundations, including the Samuel H. Kress Foundation/World Monument Fund and the Paul Getty Foundation. The exhibition included photos, printed postcards, brochures, posters, graphic and narrative materials and was displayed at the gallery space of Georgian Art and Culture Center (GACC). This project gave the audience an insider's view of the long process through which monuments are restored to their former glory. |
