INTERNATIONAL FORUM ON COOPERATION AND DEVELOPMENT IN EDUCATION, RESEARCH AND HEALTH CARE IN TBILISI
On July 9, 2004, USAID Mission Chief Mr. Denny
Robertson opened the International Forum on Cooperation and Development
in Education, Research and Health Care. Mr. Shota Vashakidze, President
of the International Association Kvali and professor of the Rutgers
University, together with a group of Georgians living in the U.S.
organized the Forum. Over 25 Georgians living abroad arrived in
Tbilisi to participate in the forum. The Forum's goal is to build
and enhance human resources in Georgia through new and improved
research, education and training methodologies and, as a result,
stimulate broad-based economic growth of the country. Key scientists,
industry representatives, physicians, policy makers and other special
guests were among the participants of the forum. On July 13, Ambassador
Miles and Mrs. Miles hosted a reception in honor of the representatives
of the Georgian Diaspora visiting Tbilisi for the Forum. The reception
gave an opportunity to Georgians living in the U.S. interact with
Ambassador Miles and share their opinions and hopes for the development
of Georgia.
