U.S. Embassy and Indiana University Host a Digital Video Conference
for Georgian and American Educators
On July 22, 2004, the U.S. Embassy and Indiana University
co-sponsored a digital-video- conference involving seven high school
teachers from the Republic of Georgia and twenty high school teachers
from both the U.S and abroad. The conference addressed topics including
curriculum reform, conflict resolution, classroom management and
violence in schools. Dr. Graham Pike, a professor at the University
of Prince Edward Island, Canada, used the conference to help his
students from the U.S., Pakistan and India to better understand
the challenges facing educators in an increasingly globalized world.
The Georgian participants Madona Jabua, Ekaterine Pirtskhalava,
Ekaterine Chinchavadze, Neli Gelutashvili, Medea Despotashvili,
Bela Kopaliani and Simon Janashia used the conference to talk about
educational issues critical to Georgia's educational reform.
