Political Officer Deb Miller Talks U.S. Electoral Politics at Telavi American Corner

On Thursday September 21, Political Officer Deborah Miller spoke to an audience gathered at the American Corner in Telavi about the American electoral system, including a brief history of the Constitutional Convention. She also spoke about the upcoming U.S. Congressional elections, issues that Americans will be considering when they vote in November, and the party conventions that will lead up to the 2008 Presidential elections. Ms. Miller then fielded questions from the audience about the role of special interest groups, lobbying in American politics and potential candidates for president in 2008. The topic of U.S. elections is especially timely as Georgia is set to conduct landmark elections on October 5th of this year to usher in a newly reformed system of local governance. Over 15 people attended Ms. Miller's presentation, including students and educators.
