American Community Celebrates Valentine's Day
Over fifty members of the extended American community had the pleasure this Valentine's Day of enjoying a warm and charming evening at the Tbilisi Marriott hotel at an event hosted by the Embassy's Community Liaison Office (CLO). Guests enjoyed tasting Mildiani's new selection of wines, which are only newly available for purchase in Georgia having been formerly solely for export. Guests respectfully demonstrated their enthusiasm for the fine selection of wines presented and endeavored to give each one more than its fair share of consideration. It is certainly hard to imagine a better ice-breaker than a wine and cheese tasting, and this was a perfect way to begin the evening and prepare guests for the merriment that was to follow.
Guests were next treated to a delicious buffet dinner. Free ticket drawings followed, with good natured scuffling over who would get some of the many prizes, which ranged from jewelry to wine and chocolate. Guests solved a series of witty riddles to win prizes as well (with the attempts at solving usually as amusing as the answers to the riddles themselves). The evening was rounded out by the chance to dance off all that chocolate mousse and semi-sweet red wine to some classics of American rock (with a healthy sprinkling of slower songs to accommodate all of the couples present). At night's end everyone departed and stepped into the cool Tbilisi evening with rosy cheeks and smiles on their faces. Many thanks to the CLO office for making this experience possible!
