Renowned Georgian Artist Medea Kedia Opens Art Show At The US Embassy
Medea Kedia, a critically acclaimed artist, and Mark Perry, the Deputy Chief of Mission in Tbilisi, opened an exhibition highlighting Ms. Kedia’s work at the United States Embassy’s exhibition hall on April 12, 2007. Guests, including leaders in Georgian culture and government, enjoyed her drawings and paintings over wine and hors d’oeuvres.
Ms. Kedia has developed her talents over the past 20 years and has sold work in the United States and in the former Soviet Union. She stated at the exhibition that she feels a very close connection with the United States, where she enjoyed her first international successes during the 1980s, and Mr. Perry expressed his appreciation of her work and his gratitude for her enthusiasm for the exhibition. Applauding Ms. Kedia’s work, Gogi Gachechiladze, advisor to President Saakashvili, affirmed Georgia’s interest in continued cultural exchange with the United States.
The United States supports the free exchange of ideas and values through artistic media and feels that artistic dialogue promotes the common values that the United States and Georgia share. |
