Congratulations to Former Public Affairs Officer Omie Kerr on “the Friend of the Georgia’s Civil Sector” Award
On May 4, at the Civil Society Forum in Expo-Georgia, former Public Affairs Officer Omie Kerr was awarded a "Friends of the Georgia’s Civil Sector” Award. The Civic Initiatives Center, a group of six Georgian NGOs, nominated Ms. Kerr to become the first international recipient of this prestigious award for her significant contribution to the development of Georgia's civil sector while serving in Georgia during 1994-1997. This period signified the birth of first civil society organizations in Georgia, which were eagerly supported by the U.S. Embassy though democracy grants and exchange programs. Ms. Kerr arrived in Georgia especially for the Award Ceremony. During a week-long visit, Georgian friends and former counterparts arranged a warm welcome for Ms. Kerr who was genuinely impressed with the progress that Georgia has made since 1997.
The U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi congratulates Omie Kerr on this well-deserved award. Her dedication and enthusiasm remain an inspiration! |
