Congressional Delegation Visits Georgia
United States Congressman Jim Kolbe, Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee for Foreign Operations, will head a Congressional delegation during a two-day visit in Georgia, on April 8 -10. Other members of the delegation are Congressman Scott Garrett, Appropriations Committee Staff Member Rob Blair, CEO of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Ambassador John Danilovich, MCC Eurasia Managing Director Frances Reid, MCC Senior Legislative Officer Jacob Stefanik, Deputy Director of the Navy House Liaison Office CDR Ben Pearson.The delegation will meet with President Saakashvili, Prime Minister Noghaideli, Speaker of the Parliament Nino Burjandaze, other officials and members of society. During the meetings, Senator Kolbe and the delegation will discuss topics related to governance, as well as economic and military developments. On April 9, Prime Minister Noghaideli and CEO of the Millennium Challenge Corporation Ambassador John Danilovich will announce the MCC “Entry into Force.” The announcement will be followed by press availability. On April 10, the delegation will visit Krtsanisi Training Area to get familiar with the progress made on the Sustainment and Stability Operations Program (SSOP). Following their visit to Georgia the delegation will depart for Yerevan.
