MCC Resident Country Director for Georgia Arrives

Tbilisi, Georgia - Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) announces the arrival of Mr. Colin Hugh Buckley in Georgia, where he will serve as the MCC’s Resident Country Director. As Resident Country Director, Mr. Buckley will provide ongoing guidance, advice, technical feedback, and support to the Millennium Challenge Georgia Fund (MCG).

Mr. Buckley brings twenty years of experience in development, corporate finance and management. Prior to joining the MCC, Mr. Buckley worked as project manager with the International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group) in Georgia. He was also a corporate lawyer for 15 years. He practiced in Philadelphia, Boston and London and last served as partner of the law firm Brown Rudnick Freed & Gesmer in London.

“The Millennium Challenge Compact is a results oriented program aimed at reducing poverty and spurring economic growth, and I am excited to contribute to its success,” said Mr. Buckley. “I am delighted to work with the talented and professional team at MCG . MCC looks forward to building upon the strong partnership with Georgia and coordinate with other donors as we begin the implementation phase of the Compact.”

Mr. Buckley received a B.A. and J.D. from the College of William and Mary and an LL.M. from the University of Cambridge. He is admitted as both a lawyer in the United States and a solicitor in the United Kingdom.

Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), a United States Government corporation designed to work with some of the poorest countries in the world, is based on the principle that aid is most effective when it reinforces good governance, economic freedom, and investments in people that promote economic growth and elimination of extreme poverty.
