US Congressional Delegation Visits Georgian Parliament
A U.S. Congressional Delegation led by Representative David Price (D-NC), and including Representative Allyson Schwartz (D-PA), Bill Shuster (R-PA) and staff will visit Georgia Tuesday, April 3 through Friday, April 6. The delegation will meet with Georgian parliamentarians and parliamentary staffers as part of the U.S. House Democracy Assistance Commission (HDAC). HDAC runs a peer to peer program between the U.S. Congress and the Georgian Parliament that builds on the Parliamentary Strengthening Project implemented by the American non-governmental organization National Democratic Institute (NDI). HDAC facilitates the sharing of best practices among legislators and improves bilateral ties.
The Price Congressional Delegation builds on a tradition of cooperation between the U.S. and Georgia’s legislative bodies. In 2006, a delegation from the Georgian Parliament visited the U.S. Congress. In 2005 the Parliament of Georgia hosted a delegation composed of U.S. Congressional staffers from the House Democracy Assistance Commission. Congressman David Price is the Chairman of the HDAC.
